Cosplay Views

Costume-Play, also known as Cosplay, originated from Japan and is now well-known in USA, Taiwan, Hong Kong and even our little island, Singapore!  Basically, Cosplay is to dress up as your favorite anime/manga character and meeting up with fellow cosplayers and having fun! My costumes are done by making it myself, hiring a tailor to make it or even using my ordinary clothes to compile as a costume!

I got to know cosplay through a friend, Raywing-san, and so  I first started cosplaying at Dec 2000. I hook on cosplay as I think this is a perfect way to show my love, my support to my favorite character. It is a honor for me to be the character him/her/itself and I try my best to be in character in every aspect.  I also get to know loads of great friends and learn new things!

Dressing up is quite different from cosplay. As I say cosplay is to dress up as your favorite anime/manga character, dressing up is create a character for the purpose of wearing the costume I design, which make it different from cosplay. That is why I separate my cosplay and dressing up.

For the people who often give negative, bad or plain insulting comments to us cosplayers, I try to ignore them as much as I could as I believe they don't understand what is cosplay means. To me, Cosplay is the same as any other hobbies like chess, sports or collecting items! Anyone who insult cosplay to me is a moron with pea-sized brains or without brains at all. It's the 21 century, be open-minded man!
